Dear Lynette-
Your words are such an inspiration! Thank you for always sharing from the heart. Sometimes, when I read your entries, a part of me questions your genuine-ness. "How could she sing praises?" But today, when I read your list of prayer requests, I was reminded of a piviotal point in my life; a place -- a realization -- I had to come to on my road to becoming a daughter of Christ. A dear friend of mine -- more like my second mom -- has a very ill child Sydney's age. She's severely retarded and has required 'round-the-clock care since she was an infant. When Karri first found out, she called me to tell my family. I thought, "Oh no, this is it! Karri can't possibly believe in God now!" So I asked her, "So, do you still believe in God?" Her reply BLEW me away and set me on a path to accepting Christ. She said, "Ofcourse! God made Annie this way to bring Him glory." And He has been glorified. Annie has out-lived her life expectancy 4-fold.
God made Sydney this way to bring Him glory. But He also made you her Mama, because He knew you would bring Him great glory too.
Much Love, Jenn

James, Lynette, Sydney and boys....
Our family continues to pray for you all and praise Him for each day's miracles! When I read your entry, I saw your request that "God is glorified," and I thought to myself...well, you can just go ahead and put that in the answered prayer category! Thank you for reminding me that the way to love others best is to love Him most.
With His love and ours, Allison Psalm 108:4

What an amazing update. Your family has been such a wonderful testimony of life on this earth (it is far from God's perfect plan He unveled in the garden), faithfulness, heartache ... and God's unwavering care and provision. Your last prayer - that God would receive glory is answered every single day. As I was praying this morning for you, I asked the Lord that He would reveal to you some of the many ways He HAS received glory from this trial.
Here is just one of the many times Sydney's fight has given me the opportunity to share God's amazing attention to detail and his provision. During Thanksgiving break, I had the opportunity to talk with a woman I really didn't know at all b/c of an incredible situation brought about through Toon family's trial. She and her husband had lost their 7 year old son about 10 years ago to a similar cancer as Sydney's. Beacause of the news you had received that week, I had a chance to go incredibly deep with this relative stranger -- to talk openly about God's attention to detail, His faithfulness, His promises ... the list goes on. And then to learn about her husband, who has struggled for years with his inability to really let God have what is still struggling with accepting faith in his life because of the circumstances concerning this child. Because of Sydney and your incredible testimony (especially your openness and honesty with highs/lows) I was able to share with them your struggles, which of course mirrored exactly what they experienced, and God's unwavering peace which has always sustained you.
Thank you! for letting us walk this road with you!!! God is receiving glory constantly through your perserverance and faith in Him. His mercy IS new every morning. His mercy touched this woman's life that day because of the faithful little warrior, Sydney, whose life is in His protective hands. Who knows what else he has in store for this family - one of countless lives that have been touched for His glory through you.
We love you and are always in prayer for you. Even last night in my dream (!), I was praying with a group for you.

Oh sweet Sydney - I loved the letters from your Mom and Dad. How wonderful they are... my greatest joy was seeing your picture on the Web page and that beautiful smile on your face. Oh how God rejoices over you precious angel...how He loves you...how He celebrates who you are. I pray Psalm 91 over you and your whole family Sydney. Every word in Psalm 91 is precious but especially where it says that "He has given His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways, and in their hands they shall bear you up..."
We love you Sydney... and although we would love to have you here at your home, I believe you will see a white Christmas. May you be blessed beyond all measure, may God continue to strength your body and your heart, may He give you endurance to complete the race.
Be blessed sweet girl...love, Preston and Mrs. Hoke
Lynette - your words about walking in the Spirit are such a testimony.... Not by your might but by My Spirit says the Lord. May the Lord continue to lead you and James in all things. May you rest in His arms and in His strength. May you have a beautiful and blessed Christmas. We love each of you.
Psalm 91 Numbers 6:24-26

We continue to pray specifically from your prayer requests and appreciate being part of "Sydney's Prayer Team." Thank you for sharing your intimate trials and joys.
In His Love, Mary Lamar

"The Lord is near" is the sentence from the Phillipians Bible verse that touched my heart Sunday. What a comfort to know that Jesus is in that hospital room with you-all. What love you-all are sharing! It's wonderful to have to have the internet so that you know that others are as "near" as possible! May God's love sustain you and comfort you through each minute of the day!
