Hey, just a quick note to let you know that I saw this and am praying for all of you.
In our service this last Sunday, we were refreshed with this knowledge from the Scriptures: These sufferings are temporary, but work in us a weighty, eternal glory.
That's the hope that we have and can truly rest on.
Fears come and go, and there is a trap in becoming fearful about being fearful. Keep your eyes on and trust in Jesus. With him, those fears may buffet and batter at you, but they will not prevail.

We will be praying for the things that James has mentioned and for your travel to NY soon. James, God is molding you into quite a leader for your family - thank you for sharing your heart with so many of us. We love you all, Sheri Johnston

We continue to lift you up in prayers. Our trip to Latvia was wonderful and we even had a reminder of your family as one of the boys at camp in Latvia looked like Johnson (although he spoke Russian).
We hope that you will find peace in Hebrews 11:1. "Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". We pray that God will give you peace of mind and continue to heal Sidney. Have faith!

James and Lynette As I read your latest entry (8/2) it made me think of the 8/2 entry in My Utmost for His Highest that talks about the teaching of adversity. It focuses on the verse in James 16:33 and Chambers says, "The typical view of the Christian life is that it means being delivered from all adversity. But it actually means being delivered in adversity, which is something very different." "God does not give us overcoming life-He gives us life as we overcome." There is no doubt that your entire family is using this time of adversity to grow closer to the Lord and rely on His strength. You are such an encouragement to so many and our prayers are with you all and especially little Sydney.

James and Lynette,
I am a Providence parent and although my daughter is not in the same grade as any of your children, I have followed Sydney's story through this website and some conversations with Susan Bryans.
Please know that our family's prayers continue to be with Sydney and with your entire family. As I was reading your thoughts on Romans 5:1-5, I went to my Vines expository dictionary, particularly to look up "hope" (perseverance, character, HOPE). Here is what I found:
hope - elpis, in the New Testament, "favorable and CONFIDENT expectation". Hope does not disappoint because we can have "confident expectation" in the Lord's promises...not "hope" like we might think of it in modern English; e.g., not hope like "I hope (wish?) it rains today". NO!!! HOPE in that we can have a "confident expectation" in relying upon God's grace and all the promises in/of the gospel. God ALWAYS shows up!

Hi Sydney,
We are thinking of you and praying for you all the time. We are still at Copper Mountain. Today we did this thing where you ride down the mountain on a giant razor like bike. We thought of Johnson the whole time!! Wouldn't he totally love it?! I praise God, who created these beautiful mountains, for giving your body more strength each day. We love you and miss your whole family! Love, The Castilla's

Hi Sydney! We have been thinking about you and your family. You are always in our prayers. Your faith in God reminds us how important it is to trust God and he will always be there for us and guide us. We want to tell your parents "thank you" for taking the time to keep everyone informed of how you are feeling. We also wanted to tell you how "beautiful" you look in your scrubs! Much love and many thoughts - Bailey, Colton Dalton Daron and Valerie

I was so anxious to get back to this website after our vacation and read how Sydney was doing. She has been thru so much, you all have. Thank you so much for sharing your struggles and triumphs with us so that we can pray for you and with you, which we do constantly. I know Sydney doesn't know Chad, but he wants me to say "hi" to her from him!
