Dear Lynette and James, I was so sorry to hear about Sydney's passing. I will continue to pray for her and for your family, knowing she could not have been in more loving hands during her illness and is now at full peace in Heaven with our Father. I will always treasure the beautiful cross she gave me. Yours faithfully, John Bader

Dear Lynette:
SYDNEY WAS A LITTLE ANGEL THAT GOD ALLOWED TO STAY IN THIS WORLD. MARIA'S MOM IS VERY VERY SORRY AND SAD AND SHE REMEMBER WHEN BEAUTIFUL SYDNEY USED TO CALL HER 'GUELI', THAT MEANS 'MEXICAN GRANDMA'. WE ALL ARE SURE THAT LITTLE SYDNEY IS NOW VERY HAPPY IN HEAVEN RESTING IN PEACE.

Dearest Lynette and James, I am so glad Sydney's service was recorded so that you may rejoice over and over at the Truth of God's sovereignty that went out to thousands that day. It was a glorious (partial) explanation of Little Sydney's ministry of suffering; a purpose-ful ministry which began on this earth and bears fruit for eternity. Here are three truths I heard: 1. "Sydney lost her locks, her looks and her liver but she never lost her (His) peace." 2. "Mommy, I know at least part of the reason God let me be sick is so that others will want to know Jesus." 3. May Little Sydney's parents say of their child what our heavenly father said of His,"My child did not die in vain."

Lynette and James, how many countless times I prayed for Sydney's recovery. When I learned of her death, I was overwhelmed with a sense of loss. However, I know she is in a much better place, so now I am praying for God's comfort and peace to be with the two of you and the boys and the rest of your family. Although I haven't met you I want you to know you have been a great source of encouragement in my faith walk. Every morning for over a year now I have checked Sydney's website. And I never failed to be blessed by your words. May the Jehovah God grant you peace, comfort, and strength for all of the tomorrows - however many or few. In His name, Sue Chalk

Dear Thweatt Family- We are a Providence Family whose daughter has been in Michelle Raybourn's class the last two years. We have been praying for you all. Sydney's courage and your faith have touched us all. My 6 year old daughter has been on her knees for you on her own accord. It is through you all that all her faith has been strengthened.(ours too!) We are still desperately praying for your family. Please know that you all and Sydney have touched more lives than you know. Thank you for reminding me to hold onto what is truly important and not the things of this world. much love, Elizabeth and Gantt Walton

Dear James, it's with a broken heart that I send you my deepest regrets in hearing of the passing of your daughter, Sydney. It's been years since we have spoken (I regret that), but I just recently heard in my Sunday school class at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, about the profound struggles that Sydney, you and your family have been enduring over the past year and a half. I wish I had learned of this sooner, but I rejoice in the fact that God has surrounded you with the love and support of so many friends and family, and most importantly, with the peace that comes from God alone, a peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray that this same peace will continue to be your source of strength and hope until that day that you and your family are reunited with Sydney in heaven, where there will be no sickness and sorrow, but rather complete and abounding joy in the Lord.
My friend, His grace to you and your family,
Steve Giese

Dear Thweatt family,
Sydney's Memorial Service was full of joy, hope, comfort and was worthy of all praise to our Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus. I too wanted to dance with the angels and Sydney by the end of the service.
I remember Sydney as having no fear. She walked into our 3 year old BSF Children classroom without any hesitation. Several other children had a hard time separating from their mothers and would cry. But not Sydney, she'd go find a doll to play with or do a puzzle. But when we had an activity with water, like changing water into wine(which was with food coloring) she was laughing and having fun. As well as had her hands stained with food coloring. She'd sit quietly and listen to our Bible story and sing our hymns for the morning. She had a teachable heart.
Yesterday I was pulling out some my BSF Children teaching activity from my many chest of drawers and I found the spiritual growth chart we used the year Sydney was in mine and Beth Brink's class. On the chart was Sydney's name listed twice. We would measure the children in the class at the beginning of the BSF year and again late in the Spring. At the top of the chart were the words GÇ£See How We Grow In the Lord.GÇ¥ I would tell the children every time they heard a Bible story they were growing in the Lord. And everyone was growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Looking back now I can see how Sydney grew more and more in the Lord under the guidance and direction of you, her parents, to become one of the Lord Jesus' disciples to spread God's Word to hundreds of people. God used you to shape her fearless and determine personality into one that was insistent on everyone knowing her Lord Jesus.
In doing my adult BSF lesson preparation for this week, we had a question with several verses to look up and tell how each verse gives the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian (Joel 2:28; Ezekiel 36:25-27, John 7:37-39, Acts 1:5, 8 and Isaiah 44:3). Then the last question for that day was how has these verses helped you. I thought about Sydney and your family how the Holy Spirit gave each of you the ability to witness to others in your family, circle of friends, among neighbors, at Providence school, New York and to others across the US and world through your website. Just like Acts 1: 5 said Gǣ GǪYou will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (ie. in your home and within your family) and in all Judea (ie. your neighbors, circle of friends) and Samaria (ie. Providence school) and to the ends of the earth (ie. in New York and throughout the world via your website). Through Sydney and your family flowed living streams of water to fill the thirst of those who were thirsty and did not know that their thirst was for Jesus. You were giving what Jesus had to offer in John 7:37-39 GǣIf anyone is thirsty let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.Gǥ And lastly from Isaiah 44:3 GǣI will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground, I will pour my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendantsGǥ. The Lord used Sydney, His offspring, to bless many who upon choosing Christ became His descendants. All of this was not by yours or Sydney's own might but by the Spirit.
I am so grateful that you shared this journey with everyone through your website posting. Every day I would go out to look to see what was going on - many times, several times a day. I longed to see if another posting had been downloaded so I would know how to pray specifically for Sydney, Lynette, James, the boys, Aunt Marcee and the medical team. I would print these out and give to my parents on Friday evenings when we would meet for dinner. My parents thought I was nuts to teach BSF Children since I am single and have no children. But through your sharing, my parents thought of Sydney as part of the family GÇô a spiritual grandchild so to speak. They wanted to know how she was doing and how to pray for her. Daddy had a full knee replacement on 9/13/07 and as usual had complication afterward but he would say in the midst of the excruciating pain GÇ£If Sydney can endure the pain so can I.GÇ¥ He is doing well in physical therapy. They wanted to be at the memorial service but both my Mother and Daddy would not able to walk the distance from the parking lot to the worship center even with his walker and our help. I told him the children sang GÇ£Here I Am Lord.GÇ¥. He got teary eyed because that is his favorite contemporary hymn.
I learned from James postings how a man who loves Christ and is the Spiritual Leader of the family would respond to things beyond his control with prayer, scripture, faith and trust in the Lord versus trying to fix it on his terms. How he would openly describe his raw emotions and let us see how a real man seeking the heart of Jesus would relate to His creator with all sincerity. I saw how you described a wife fully devoted to the care of her children and especially attentive to Sydney's needs while giving care to other families in the hospital along the way. How you would continue to ask for prayer for other families. Through Lynette's posting I saw a mother who continued to bear the pains of childbirth in the joys and suffering of her children with grace and tenacity as she tirelessly moved forward, never giving up, but instead thanking the Lord for His faithfulness even when the situation did not appear to have anything to be thankful about. How you exemplified the verse in Matthew 11:28 (paraphrasing) - all who are heavy laden come to Me and I will give rest. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light. - You allowed Christ to carry you through each day and still be light and salt for Him. I saw a marriage reflecting submission to Christ and seeking His good and perfect will for yourselves and your children. I saw 3 brothers who were not jealous of their sister but loved her so well that their loved spurred Sydney on to continue fighting. Lastly, I saw how the Body of Christ works through visits, meals, caregivers, those who cared for Chappie while you were out of town, through notes of encouragements and prayer. Thank you for sharing this painful faith journey with me. Let me know how I can serve you. I will be praying for your family every day during this first year.
With Christ's love and mine, Miss. Cynthia G. Gammill Sydney's 3 year old BSF Children's Leader

I have been doing a great deal of thinking about how Sydney, her illness, and prayer journey have changed my life and the lives of my family. I hope these thoughts in some small way may be a blessing to you as you grieve for Sydney. There are many ways my family has grown because of Sydney and your family. One of the largest ways has been enjoying a prayer journey, with its ups and downs, with a wonderful, widespread group of believers. And in so doing, feeling strengthened in my own life each day. Additionally, my own daily complaints and problems seemed so insignificant and trivial compared to the needs of so many others, especially Sydney and your family. Many times I consider myself honored to have offered up, fasted, or sacrificed in the name of healing for Sydney and wisdom for your family. Incredibly, the gifts I received myself from making the sacrifice, enriched my own spiritual journey with God and allowed Him to speak to me about my own areas of weakness where only He could work. When faced with the struggle to live, many things of this world become outrageously less important...only living and breathing are important and the only things worthy of our time are of God. Our family has struggled for many years over the education of our oldest son. Through praying for your family, appreciating the importance of living for Christ in every decision, we were able to finally brave a difficult decision to take him out of a destructive, less-than-God filled setting. Miraculously, the son we thought didn't exist anymore, as a product of a poor educational environment, is returning to us day by day. Since removing him from the school, we have been blessed by a beautiful group of Christians that have given him friendship he has never personally had in his fifteen years of life. I am certain this was a gift we received from our faithful prayer for Sydney. Although it may seem simplistic, it was a complicated decision for an array of reasons. But never before, in our many years of feeling no direction on matters of his education, both my husband and I felt clear, united direction. Praise God! I will forever see this spiritual landmark as a gift of God's grace through faithful prayer for Sydney and your family. Although we have benefited immensely from this journey, I do feel saddened and unworthy when I imagine that you are entering a new journey without Sydney. Know that you remain in our thoughts and prayers. I pray that God will comfort you with beautiful memories that seem so real that you can feel Sydney's presence, or hear her giggle from across the room...that these moments could reassure you of the wonderful place you created for her here on earth, that has allowed her to swiftly find her place in the Kingdom of Heaven, saving a special place right next to her just for her family. It, I am confident, will be worth the wait. Prayers, love, peace, joy, Mary Romans 8:26-27,38-39
