Sydney Thweatt

June 20, 2007 3:31 PM

Sydney was in horrible shape Tuesday (6/12). A cat scan showed a dangerous spot of fungus in her lungs, the same fungus that she had last thanksgiving. Also, they believed the fungus had grown resistive to our fungus drug. They only have one other fungus drug left in there arsenal and Sydney didn't tolerate well. She is also battling two viruses, but the drug therapy is keeping them in check. We need to get off the steroids, so her immune system can start to come back.

It is Friday (6/15) afternoon and the doctor just reported Sydney fungus is diminishing and her stomach gvhd is showing signs of healing. What a miracle. The fungus drug appears to still be effective and she looks and feels much better. Lynette had great confidence in God through this last ordeal, another miracle.

The drugs make Sydney very obsessive with Lynette, and she doesn't want her to leave her side for a minute. Lynette gets out of the hospital for brief periods of time. Our boys are here and they are a great help. They come running when ever Sydney asks for them. They play whatever she wants and they act as if it is the most interesting thing they could be doing. They never complain another miracle.

The head Doctor said, "Some people didn't give Sydney a prayer of surviving the last few weeks." She is still in serious shape, but much improved from a week ago. The doctors realize that Sydney desperately wants out of the hospital; she broke down and in between sobs told the doctor just that. Her little face is very puffy, mostly from the steroids.

We have no idea when we can even hope to be back in Dallas.

Thank you for your continued prayers and concern,

James
